Standby Man / Fire Watch
A Standby Man / Fire Watch is responsible for maintaining a safe working environment during industrial, construction, maintenance, and shutdown activities. The role is particularly important when workers are performing hot work, welding, cutting, grinding, or other activities that may create sparks or fire hazards. The Fire Watch remains alert throughout the assigned work, monitors the surrounding area for potential fire risks, and takes immediate action according to established safety procedures if a hazard occurs. This opportunity is available for a two-month project at Maaden Turaif, with a rate of SAR 15 per hour and payment scheduled 45 days after timesheet submission.
Main Responsibilities and Work Duties
The Standby Man / Fire Watch will continuously monitor work areas where hot work or other potentially hazardous activities are taking place. The worker must identify combustible materials, sparks, smoke, flames, or unsafe conditions and immediately report hazards to the responsible supervisor. Duties may include keeping suitable fire extinguishing equipment readily available, maintaining a safe distance from hazardous activities, monitoring the area during work and for the required period after hot work has stopped, and preventing unauthorized personnel from entering restricted areas. The Fire Watch must remain attentive throughout the assigned shift and follow all site safety instructions and emergency procedures.
Required Skills, Certification and Knowledge
Candidates should have a strong understanding of basic industrial safety practices and fire prevention procedures. Previous experience as a Fire Watch, Standby Man, or in an industrial maintenance environment can be beneficial. A valid TUV certification is specifically required for this vacancy. Applicants should be alert, responsible, physically fit, and capable of responding quickly to unsafe conditions or emergency situations. Familiarity with Maaden project safety requirements and proper use of basic firefighting equipment can also be advantageous.
