Main Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
The Fire Watch will monitor designated work areas during hot work and other activities where fire risks may be present. The role involves observing welding, cutting, grinding, or similar operations and ensuring that sparks, flames, or hot materials do not create unsafe conditions. Fire Watch personnel may be required to keep suitable firefighting equipment readily available, maintain awareness of surrounding combustible materials, and immediately alert workers and supervisors if a fire hazard develops. They should remain attentive throughout the assigned work period and avoid leaving the designated area without proper replacement or authorization. The Fire Watch must follow site emergency procedures, communicate effectively with workers and safety personnel, and report unsafe conditions promptly. Maintaining a safe and controlled work environment is the primary responsibility.
