Main Duties and Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
The Fire Watch will continuously monitor designated areas during welding, cutting, grinding, and other hot-work activities where sparks or heat may create a fire risk. The worker will check surrounding areas for combustible materials, ensure suitable firefighting equipment is available, and immediately report unsafe conditions to the responsible supervisor. Fire Watch personnel may also remain on standby during and after hot-work activities according to site procedures to ensure that no fire develops after the work is completed. Good communication with welders, supervisors, and safety personnel is important, particularly when conditions change or additional precautions are required. The worker must remain alert and follow all site safety instructions throughout the assignment.
